Jury Selection Completed In R. Kelly Case

The jury in R. Kelly's child p*rnography trial was finalized Thursday (May 15), with representation for the plaintiff and defense arguing about the racial makeup of the 12 jurors selected. Kelly is facing charges relating to a video he allegedly recorded while having s*x with a minor in 2002. According to The Associated Press, the defense attorneys used challenges - where potential jurors are dismissed for impartiality or because they could be unfavorable to the case - to have several African American's refused.  "I think they're using these (challenges) to get rid of African Americans," said Kelly's attorney Sam Adam Sr. This drew a response from prosecutor Shauna Boliker, who said the defense had "used all six of their preemptories (preemptory challenges) on whites." The Celebrity Truth asked Kelly's rep, Allan Mayer, to comment on the case and was told, "Unfortunately, the judge issued an order... instructing me not [to] comment on any aspect of the case, including how R. Kelly is dealing with it all and how he views the future."Photo courtesy of Jive.

Britain's Got Talent Finalist Andrew Muir: 'I'll Be a Star'

Andrew MuirBritain's Got Talent finalist Andrew Muir has vowed to become a star and prove the show's judges wrong.

The Scottish plumber, who failed to impress Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden -- who panned his rendition of John Lennon's Imagine -- says he'll be a big hit in the stage show and the judges will be eating their words.

Muir was beaten in Saturday's final by 14-year-old break dancer George Sampson, who bagged the 100,000 prize; and will also get to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.

Muir says, "I probably wouldn't have won anyway - the talent was outstanding.

"But I don't agree with Simon when he said I was 'out my depth' and I'm determined to prove the judges wrong. I'll get the chance to prove myself on the tour.

"My semi-final performance was the real me. The final just didn't go well.

"The whole thing has been a tremendous experience and I've made great friends.

"George deserved to win as nobody worked harder throughout the show and he's an amazing dancer."

Andrew today began rehearsals in London for the month-long stage show, which starts on Friday.

He said, "I'll be speaking to my boss to see if he'll give me the time off to tour.

"This is a great opportunity for me. I'd love to have a crack at the music business."

James McAvoy: 'I Prefer Washing up to High Life'

James McAvoyJames McAvoy says that just because he's a movie star doesn't mean he doesn't do his own washing and cooking.

The Scottish actor, whose comic book thriller Wanted -- which also stars Angelina Jole -- is out this month, says he is frightened of guns - and gets his kicks from cooking and doing the dishes.

He says, "People seem to be shocked when I tell them that I like to do my own washing-up. I mean doing the dishes.

"I think people assume because you do a couple of movies, you're living the high life.

"And I really don't. I have a fairly normal existence.

"I like to think that if I did earn millions and millions, I would hope I didn't hire a cook or bottle washer.

"It's an absolute joy to cook. I eat out so much because of my job. When I'm at home and not working, I cook all the time. It's one of the things that we've all done since the beginning of time. I'd feel like I was distancing myself from the rest of humanity if I didn't cook."

McAvoy, 28, (pictured above with his 'Atonement' co-star Keira Knightley), married actress Anne-Marie Duff, 37, after they met on the set of Channel 4's Shameless.

The couple lead a low-key life in the modest north London flat she owned before marrying and they drive a 10-year-old Nissan Micra.

Amy Winehouse late, fidgety for post-rehab concert

LISBON, Portugal —

Amy Winehouse, in her first concert since leaving rehab, showed up almost an hour late, appeared distracted and had visible cuts on her arm and a bandage on her hand.

Her performance in front of 90,000 people, at an outdoor performance at a music festival in Lisbon, Portugal, was brief, clocking in at 55 minutes.

At least she apologized.

"Hey Lisbon," Winehouse told the crowd, which booed when she failed to appear at her advertised time but gave her a warm welcome when she appeared. "I'm sorry I'm late."

The Grammy-winning jazz-pop diva also apologized for a sore throat and her voice cracked during the set.

Wearing a short dress, Winehouse paused to talk to members of her band, fiddled at length with her microphone, sucked on lozenges and at one point dashed offstage but quickly returned. Cuts were visible on her left arm, and her right hand was bandaged.

Winehouse's musical career has flourished despite her erratic behavior, missed concerts and stints in drug rehab.

The sellout crowd, gathered in a Lisbon park for the Rock in Rio festival, warmed to Winehouse as the 24-year-old sang hits including "Rehab," soul classics and reggae songs.

She mostly failed to thrill the crowd, however, and walked off stage without playing an encore. The crowd remained subdued.

Winehouse was the third act of the day on the festival's main stage, coming on before headliner Lenny Kravitz. Her management told the festival organizers she would not speak to the media.

Last week she won an Ivor Novello award, a prestigious British prize, for "Love Is a Losing Game" from her "Back to Black" album. Her father received the prize after Winehouse arrived late to the ceremony.

Earlier this month, the 24-year-old singer was arrested and questioned by police about video footage that appeared to show her inhaling fumes from a crack pipe. Authorities said the singer would not be charged.

Last year she canceled a series of British concerts and postponed a tour of the U.S. and Canada after British media reported that she was in and out of rehab.

Winehouse is booked to play at a series of music festivals in Europe this summer.
